BENEFITS
How much more power can I expect?
Most engines will see a 20-30% increase in horsepower. Some develop
more, depending on the engine size and and condition. Some large
engines have seen increases of around 60%. See
Graphs.

How much more torque will I get?
The torque increase is normally 15-20%, sometimes more - again,
there are differences between engines. Remember that torque equals
acceleration, this is what you will really feel when you have Powershot
® fitted.
Top
Will it improve my diesel mpg?
Yes. You will get more miles to each gallon of diesel fuel used.
How many more depends on the Powershot ® setting.
Under normal driving conditions, with Powershot ® on a mild
setting, improvements of 6-8 mpg on average have been observed.
This saving on diesel more than covers the cost of the propane.
Top
Are there any other benefits?
Yes. Propane tends to have a cleansing effect, removing carbon
and oil deposits from the inlet tract and combustion chamber. Try
running with Powershot® active for a few days and then switch
it off. Most people find their engine runs smoother and quieter
than it did before. Although why you would want to switch it off,
we don’t know!
Also your engine oil stays a little cleaner, and therefore more
effective. No, this doesn’t mean you can skimp on servicing,
just that your oil does its job better for longer.

Does Powershot ® have any
negative effects?
Losing your license in a diesel-powered vehicle is now easier than
ever before!

APPLICATION
Will Powershot ® work on my
diesel engine?
The beauty of the system is that it works on almost any engine
and any mileage, provided the engine and fuelling system are in
a healthy condition.
Both naturally aspirated and turbo charged engines have seen good
power and torque gains, although the best results are with turbos
due to the greater oxygen available.
Simply contact us with full details
of your diesel, and we can confirm to you if your vehicle is suitable.

Does Powershot ® convert my
diesel to run on LPG?
No. Powershot® is an additional fuel system, not a replacement
fuel system.
To convert a diesel engine to run on LPG is possible, but prohibitively
expensive. The combustion process is totally different in diesel
than in petrol/LPG engines.
If you want your diesel to run on LPG, the usual answer is to swap
in a petrol engine, and then convert from that.

SAFETY
Is Powershot ® safe?
Yes. The system has a built in safety feature. The system only
allows LPG to flow when the engine revs above idle. At idle, or
when the engine is switched off or stalls, there is no flow of gas.
LPG equipment and technology is well known and trusted –
it has been used in petrol cars for many years.
P. I. Fuel Systems are experienced in working with LPG, and always
use quality LPGA approved tanks, safety valves and pipework when
fitting Powershot ®.
Top
Can I install Powershot ®
myself from a kit?
This is not recommended and we do not sell kits.
Working with LPG requires understanding of the gas and all relevant
safety requirements. DIY kits do not guarantee safe and effective
installations.

GETTING LPG
Where can I get propane?
Any forecourt selling LPG/Autogas is your source for propane. In
the UK, propane is the single or main constituent of LPG - depending
on supplier and time of year. Find
propane near you.
With the LPGA approved tank and filler parts we fit, you can fill
up at any Autogas station in the UK. We also supply adaptors for
European filling stations on request.

How big does the LPG tank need
to be?
That’s up to you. A bigger tank means more time and more
fun between fill ups. The tank has a gauge on it, or we can fit
a level indicator inside the vehicle for you.
Top
If I run out of LPG will my engine
still work?
Yes. Powershot® is a user-activated system which can be turned
on or off at any time with a simple switch. If you run out of propane,
your diesel will simply drive the way it does with Powershot®
switched off.

INSTALLATION DETAILS
What exactly is involved in the
installation?
It consists of the LPG tank and mounting brackets, all pipework
and valves, and the front end Powershot® system which controls
propane flow into the intake air.
Once the tank and pipes have been installed and fully tested, the
front end system is installed. Then the Powershot® setting is
calibrated according to the power or economy requirements of each
customer.

Where do you put the tank?
Tank options are similar to LPG conversions. See photos.
Cylinder (sausage) tanks can go in the boot or rear load area, and
depending on the vehicle can also be fitted underneath.
Toroidal (doughnut ) tanks can go flat in the spare wheel well
if there is one, or can be vertically or horizontally mounted in
the rear according to your space needs.
Tank location is easier for Powershot® as the tanks are usually
much smaller, unless you have the space and desire for a larger
capacity.

What if I want to sell my vehicle?
We can usually move the tank and Powershot® system to your
next diesel, or you can simply sell your old vehicle with the system
on. It can be quite a selling point on a test drive!

and what does it cost?
